If I have a pot lid which is made from glass, and there is a metal band around the edge of the pot, and there is rubber strip on the inside of the metal band which cannot be removed (this rubber strip helps to create a seal when the lid is on the pot:
a) Can this pot cover be kashered?
b) What would be the proper way to do so with the rubber strip?

It seems that the lid can be kashered by the normal method of immersing into boiling water.
The fact that there is a strip inside the metal band does not make a difference. If there is any food residue stuck there the residue should be cleaned out with a toothpick.
