To the Honorable Rabbonim:
Ocoasioally one finds a tiny black speck on the tip of basmati whole rice. When I rinse the rice and soak it in cold water, the rice that floats to the top I remove, but sometimes among the grains of rice that sink to the bottom – a couple may have a black spot on the tip. Should it be discarded?

Black specks on the tip of rice are generally nothing. You don’t need to worry about them.
