Clothes from less observant days

Question:

Hello Rabbi,
Even I knew it was a violation of Shabbat to travel, I used to do it. Now I observe more, is it okay to wear clothes I took in the car or wore when I rode in the car on Shabbat or ate nonkosher food or they somehow “tainted.”? I have some dressy clothes that I brought in the car on Shabbat (even knowing I should not be riding) a few years ago and in which I ate nonkosher food. I am reluctant to wear to them–does this matter? thank you

Answer:

Thank you for your question.

Having such a feeling shows how sensitive you are to doing a full teshuva for everything you did in the past, and that is remarkable. On a practricle halachik level though, you are allowed to wear the clothing.

Best wishes
