Question:
Shavuah tov! I think a little fruit fly might have flown into my oven. I’m not sure, but it went in the direction of the open door and was not seen again. In any event, is there anything from a kashrut perspective that needs to be done to the oven?
Answer:
Hello,
Unless you suspect that the fly flew into some food in the oven, there is no need for concern. If the fly got stuck to the walls of the oven it is not a kashrus concern, because it doesn’t impart, and positive taste, and it will get burnt up. You just want to make sure that it isn’t any actual food. You might want to look inside it to make sure it isn’t there any more, but you do not have to be too concerned about it.
Best wishes
