Question:
Why do we say aleha hashalom for a woman and not zichrona l’vracha?
Answer:
Hello,
Both terms, alav hashalom (may he /she rest in peace), and zichrono livracha (may his memory be blessed), can be said on both men and women. In general, zichrono livracha is a more honorable term, as the gemora says that when a tzedak is mentioned we praise him. Therefore, when talking about a righteous person, it is an honor to say zichrono livracha, and it can be used for men and women.
Best wishes
