Kosher status of fur

Question:

Dear Rabbi,

I understand it is treif to touch the carcass of a dead animal.

Of course, Jews wear streimels made out of a fur.

But why is fur permitted? I think it is nice but are there any kosher precautions?

Thank you.

Answer:

While touching a carcass makes a person ritually impure, there is no prohibition to touch it. Additionally it is permitted to benifit from it (we aren ‘t eating it).

best wishes
