Why don’t most kids wear a talit gadol?

Hello,
Essentially children, should wear a tallis gadol from the time that they are old enough to wear a tallis katan, and this is the custom among the Sefardim, and some Ashkenazim, such as those from Germany, and Switzerland. There are however many Ashkenazim, who do not put on a tallis gadol until after they get married. This is based on what the Maharil, (who is the source for many Ashekenazi minhagim), wrote that a child should not wear a tallis gadol until after he gets married. See sources.
Even in the times of the gemora, when unmarried people did wear a tallis, however it was not worn on the person’s head until after he married.
