Question:

I am about 7 weeks after birth and I tried to do a hefsek twice but there was spotting. Can I wait another week before trying again or do I need to keep trying every day until I get a clean hefsek? In general, is it ok to wait a full 2 months after birth before doing the hefsek or is it better to try before?

Answer:

Trying every day is not advisable because after birth the area is tender and making too many bedikos can irritate the area, and cause spotting from irritation.

You don’t have to wait two months in order to do a hefsek, and it is very individual and it depends on your body.

If it keeps up you may want to see a doctor to make sure that everything is healing correctly.
