A disabled person needs a stairlift to get up and down stairs, how can this be accomplished on shabbos?
Answer:
The simplest solution would be to set a timer that will activate the stairlift at intervals, thereby allowing the diasbled person to go up and down without having to perform any melachah. This might be somewhat difficult, because of the timing issues involved (wating enough time at each floor), but it would probably be the best solution for this situation.
Much Hatzlachah!
Hi there!
There is a company in Israel called Zomet. Under the guidance of many Poskim, they have developed a Shabbat stairlift (See attached link). (http://www.zomet.org.il/Eng/CategoryID=248&ArticleID=87&Page=1)
They have one distributor in the US. You can reach them at 1(855)SHAB-LIFT (742-2543) or email [email protected].
B'Hatzlacha!
