Can someone use as a bookmark for a sefer or siddur a tefilas haderech card or similar item?
Answer:
A tefillas haderech or benching card (and so on) should not be used as bookmarks.
Although some poskim permit using one sefer to raise another sefer that one is learning from (see Mishnah Berurah 315:30, who cites a dispute among poskim concerning this matter), using a card as a bookmark is degrading to the kedushah of the text, and it appears that all will concede that this may not be done.
