Manager of Company that Markets Non-Kosher Food

Is it muter for someone to take a job as a manager of a marketing company that sometimes has to market to potential buyers davarim ha’ossurim (food, and sometimes other things — issurei d’oraisa and d’rabbanan). Or would this clearly by a problem of lifnei iver or mesaye’ah?

Answer:

Outside Israel, where the majority of clients are not Jewish, it would be permitted to work as a manager, provided that there is no contact between with prohibited foods.

In Israel, the job is problematic, and should be avoided.

If the same items are available elsewhere, and in particular from non-Jewish providers, there might be some room for leniency, but only under extenuating cirucmstances. As noted, wherever possible the job must be avoided.

Please see here for source material on a similar (but not identical) question.

Best wishes.
