Division of Torah into Sedarim

At the end of each of the 5 chumashim it says the total pesukim in that sefer, how many parshios, how many perokim, pesuchos & setumos. All these I know what it means. It also says how many sedorim, for example in sefer Shemos 29. What does this mean?

Answer:

The Sedarim are based on the division of the Torah into sections, which are read each week, by which the Torah is completed every three years (a sedra is read every week).

This division was in used (in the Land of Israel) until the twelfth century.
