I would like to know if I am allowed to buy a gift for a dear friend who is an aval. She and her husband are married for 18 years and were not blessed with kids. I have tremendous hakaros hatov for her husband who does alot for me, but for being appropriate I usually buy a gift for her or her house. How would i go about it.

A present should not be bought directly for an Avel. However, it may be sent as a gift for the family and house as a general present, not specifically intended for her.
