Spacing out while saying brachos

Question:

When reciting birches hashachar this morning, I was still sleepy, and I spaced out. I was not sure if I was holding by asher yatzar or Elokai Neshama. I caught myself saying “sheim yiposeach echod mayhem” but I thought I had already finished asher yatzar. So I wasn’t sure which bracha I was holding by. What should I have done at that point? Continue and finish asher yatzar, even though I might have said it already?

Answer:

“She’im yiposeach echod mayhem” is part of Asher Yotzar, therefore we will assume that that is where you are up to. Why should you assume that you said it twice?

Best wishes
