Question:
Is it better to clean for kovod shabbos closer to shabbos like after chatzot lchatchilla? Like nail cutting and bathing?
Answer:
The bulk of the Shabbos preparation should be done early in the day, as the Shulchan Aruch (250-1) says that we should get up early in order to buy things l’kavod Shabbos. The only things that it says are a preference after chatzos are taking a haircut, cutting nails, (O:CH 250-1) and taking a shower, and getting dressed, which should preferably be done close to Shabbos (Rema O:CH 262-2) but obviously not too late.
Best wishes
