Hadlakas neiros bathroom lights

Question:

I’ve heard, if someone is in a place for shabbos that doesn’t allow him to light candles in a halachicly acceptable place, he’s better off turning on an electric light in his room. If one uses his bathroom lights does he therebye make his bathroom unusable for the rest of shabbos, not to do something unfitting in front of the shabbos lights?
Thank you.

Answer:

Hello,

Since the purpose of having the light on in the bathroom is also in order to use the bathroom, it is not considered degrading the Shabbos lights to use the bathroom. Aside from this, the idea that a person should not engage in certain activities in front of the Shabbos candles (Rema O:C end of 275), may not apply to florescent lights.

All the best
