We have a novi written on Klaf – Sefer Shoftim.
This week is Parshas Shelach in Chutz LoOretz. Would it make sense to make up our own haftorah from Sefer Shoftim which has a connection to the Parsha (in שופטים א,כ it says ויתנו לכלב את חברון) and lein this from the klaf, instead of leining the proper haftorah of Parshas Shelach which we would have to do from a printed Tanach?
It sounds unlikely to be the right thing, but I would appreciate if you had any mekor for this.

Hello,
Although you have a klaf for a different haftora, it is more important to keep to the minhag of Klal Yisroel, and to read the correct haftora for that week. Having a klaf is an inyan, and many minyanim don’t have it. Even your minyan doesn’t have all of them. This is because we rely on the Magen Avrohom and Taz and others who say that it isn’t needed, and this was the minhag in Klal Yisroel in many places for a long time. Even the Mishna Berura says that it is preferred to have a klaf, but not that it is not an obligation. Regarding reading the haftora of that week, see Piskei Teshuvos 284-3, that if the wrong haftora was read, even if it is slightly connected to the parsha, we read the correct haftora again, but without a bracha. Therefore even if you would read the wrong haftora on the klaf, you would have to read the correct one afterwards, from a proper nach.
