Birkas Hachodesh

Question:

In the Yehi Ratzon paragraph, we say shetichadesh alenu es hachodesh hazeh. Shouldn’t we use the habah or hayavo instead of hazeh? Wouldn’t that be clearer?

Answer:

Hello,

The correct grammar, for the coming month is hazeh, and for the one after the coming one it is habah. For example, in modern Hebrew, when one wants to say this coming Tuesday, they will yom shelishi hakarov, but for next Tuesday they will say yom shilishi habah.

Best wishes
