Question:
My children painted ceramic bowls in a paint-it-yourself place in Beit Shemesh and they were then glazed and put in an oven to become usable. I’m unsure of where the bowls originally were made. Do they need to be toiveled?
Thank you
Answer:
The is no need to tovel the bowls. The reason is because the bowl itself is pottery, and clay, which does not need tevila (only metal and glass do), and the glass coating, which potentially would require tevila without a bracha was done by Jews. Therefore there is no need to do anything.
