Question: Can we open canned food on Yom Tov, for the purpose of making food for Yom Tov?
Answer:
The halachos of opening cans etc. on Yom Tov are the sme as for Shabbos, even though it is for food preparation. Open the can in a way that ruins it, or only half way, and then empty it’s contents and discard.
