Before answer your question, our hearts are together with all the families that lost relatives in the tragedy that happened in Meron yesterday.
There are no obligations, of anything that we must do on lag b’omer, it is regular weekday, except that we don’t say tachnun, etc. and we do celebrate, the fact that the students of R’ Akiva stopped to die. Another reason we celebrate is because it is the yahrtzeit of R’ Shimon bar Yochai, and one this day he revealed the Zohar and the fundamentals of Kabalah to Klal Yisroel.
