May an extra pair of Rashi Tefillin be converted into Rabeinu Tam tefillin?

Hello,
Although there are people who are mehader to put on Rabeinu Tam tefillin, the way we pasken is that the rashi tefillin is the correct way that the parshiot are meant to be placed. this applies to the degree that Rabeinu Tam tefillin is considered “chol” in comparison to Rashi tefillin. therefore we may not switch Rashi tefillin for Rabeinu Tam tefillin. This even applies if one made a condition before putting on the tefillin that they might want to switch them for Rabbeinu Tam.
