Meat Spoon in Dairy Teacup

Question:

Hi Rabbi,

Someone by mistake used a meat spoon to mix honey in my dairy Corelle teacup. The teacup had hot tea in it. Is there any way I can rekasher the dairy teacup and meat spoon? I don’t remember when either was used last before putting the tea inside (could be a week ago or the day before not sure). I’m Sephardic if that makes a difference. Thank you!

Answer:

Hello,

If the teacup was not used with hot milk for 24 hours prior to the meaty spoon being placed inside it, in retrospect neither the spoon nor the  cup have to be kashered. This is because both utensils were not a ben yomo, and od not have the capability to impart a taste that ca make the other utensil trief.

Best wishes
