MEZUZAH on GARAGE

Question:

Im attaching a mezuzah to my garage. The garage is used for storage. Do I make a Bracha?

Answer:

It is controversial if we make a bracha on a place designated for storage, most poskim says that we do, and this seems to be the minhag. If you do make a bracha you definitely have many poskim to rely on.

Best wishes

With a bracha Shulchan Aruch Y:D 286-2 including the major poskim (including Rema) who didn’t argue on this, Pischei Teshuva Y:D 286-15, Mezuza Beysecha 286-7, Chovas Hador 2-4, Oz NIdberu 3-58 quoting R’ Moshe Feinstein and R’ Henkin zt”l, Mishne Halachos 6-189(4) See Aruch Hashulchan Y:D 286-8,9 who asks why we make a braca since te Rambam and the Rif (according to oe girsa) hold not to make a bracha, however he says that this is indeed the minhag. Agur Boholeca 34-1,3,4, See Teshuvos Vhanhagos 1-647 and Minchas Yitzchok 10-96(2) say that if the garage is attached to your house and is used an as entrance to the house then it will get a mezuza with a bracha. (on siman 286-2) who brings poskim who says not to make a bracha, because they pasken like the Rambam.
