Am I supposed to give maaser for money that was received as a gift or won at a raffle?
Answer:
Thank you for your question.
Money that was given to a person as a present (and the person can use the money for whatever he wants) and money that from a raffle are considered income, similar to any other income, and maaser should be given from them. Additionally , if one wins a raffle from a torah or tzedakah organization, the maaser should preferably be given to that organization.
