Putting a Sefer Torah in the hold of a plane

Question:

Hi. We are transporting a Sefer Torah to Israel and it needs to go in the hold of the plane due to its size. What is the appropriate way to wrap it?

Answer:

Hello,

Unfourtunately, I can’t suggest an appropriate way to do this. If it goes in the baggage, the goyim are going to put other luggage on it, throw it, the way they do other luggage, etc., it will roll around the way all the other suitcases do, and it is not respectful for the Sefer Torah. I cannot suggest an appropriate way to wrap it.

Best wishes

  1. I heard that the airline sometimes lets someone in Business Class or First Class take it on with them.
