Cookies after meal

Question:

Hello Rabbi, If one had a non-bread dinner (so no hamotzi) and then had three of these cookies about 20 minutes later, would it ever be hamotzi?

ingredients: Flour Blend (oat, tapioca, potato starch), Cane Sugar, Palm Oil*, Chocolate Chunks (sugar, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter, vanilla extract, salt), Filtered Water, Molasses, Natural Vanilla Flavor, Sea Salt, Baking Soda.
*Sustainably Sourced, RSPO Certified.
thank you

Answer:

Hello,

You would not make hamotzei on it, and you wouldn’t have to bentch.Although there are poskim who say that cookies and other pas haba’ah bkinsin, eaten together with other food, are are all grouped together, however if the cookies were eaten after eating the other foods, the minhag is that they are not included in the “ meal”. Therefore, since you didn’t eat enough cookies to be considered their own “meal” (for eggs worth) the bracha on them is mezonos.

Best wishes
