Milchig spoon issue

Question:

Hi!

I found my milchigs ladle, in my fleishig pot, at the time I’m not sure if it had just vegetable soup or some meat in it.

  1. What is the status of the pot?
  2. What is the status of the milchigs ladle?
  3. This afternoon, someone by accident put that milchigs spoon, (that went into fleishig pot while hot) back into a milchigs pot. Is my milchigs pot ok?

This happened over the course of a month. It wasn’t back to back..
thank you

Answer:

Hello,

Since the various incidents happened over the course of a month, I will assume that no two things happened within 24 hours of each other.

  1. Assuming that the ladle was not used within the 24 hours prior to it’s being put into the flieshig pot, the pot is ok to use and doesn’t need to be koshered. The reason being that unless we know otherwise, we assume that a utensil is not a ben yomo. A utensil that is not a ben yomo, in retrospect, will not make something trief. Therefore the ladle will not make the fleishig pot trief.
  2. The ladle however should be koshered. It should be cleaned well, and extra care being taken that the spot between the ladle and the handle is cleaned well. Heat up a pot of water until it comes to a rolling boil. Put the ladle inside it for a few second until the water starts to bubble again. Remove and wash it off in cold water. The pot is kosher. Because even if the ladle was trief, it was not a ben yomo, therefore it won’t make the second pot trief.

Best wishes
