Question:
Is it permitted for witnesses to sign a ketubah with their first and last name? Meaning they sign as on a normal government or financial document without mentioning “ben ploni”. If this was already done on someone’s ketubah is that fine?
Answer:
Hello,
When the witnesses sign their names, they should write their name and ben ploni, as is written in Shulchan Aruch Even Haezer 130-11. In retrospect, if it wasn’t written the kesuba is still kosher. It should be noted that this is a question that should be posed to the mesader kedushin himself.
Best wishes
