Hi, Can I cut a slit on the top of a shirt before going to kotel to make it easier to tear, and then just tear it more? Also, does it matter if it’s on left chest, or can it be on the right chest? Thanks

You can make a little hole beforehand, and when you get there tear another tefach (3-4 inches). We rip on the left side, which is over the heart, ther same way a person rips when a parent dies.
