Lashon hara

Question:

Hi,

The IT dept in my (Jewish) company is considered to be quite incompetent and frustrating by many (most?) of my coworkers. They’re quite a large dept with many IT subdivisions.
Am I allowed to slip in a snide remark when a messup occurs again? It’s not known or will become known who was the source of the issue. It’s just a remark on the general state of incompetence there.

Thank you

Answer:

Hi,

If the snide comment is made to someone in the IT department who might know who it is , then it might be considered lashon hora. However to other people who won’t know the identity of  the those who made the mistake then it is permitted to say. (Not that making snide remarks is a good habit to get into.)

Best wishes
