Jewish music in bathroom

Question:

Hello, these two previous posts seem to contradict each other. Can you please clarify if listening to Jewish music while in a bathroom is muttar (with toilet and shower in same room)? Assuming that the songs will have lyrics that are psukim, and the person is only listening but not singing along. Thank you.

Answer:

Hello,

There are differant Rabbis who answer questions on this site. Especially since the two posts were posted 6 years from each other.  It happens to be that I am the one who posted the second one, and my opinion is that one may not think pesukim while in the bathroom, even if they will not be spoken. Listening to music with pesukim is essentially going to cause the person to think about the words that were said. Therefore one should not listen to pesukim in the bathroom.

Best wishes
