kinuach and hadacha

Question:

When I need to do kinuach and hadacha, is there any shiur I have to eat/drink, or can I just eat a tiny piece of bread and a tiny sip of water? Also, do I have to swish the water around my mouth or is it enough to just drink a sip of water?

Answer:

Hello,

The purpose of doing kinuach (rinsing one’s mouth) and hadacha (wiping one’s mouth) between eating milk or fish and meat, is in order to clean out our mouth. It is coming from a practical angle, therefore a tiny peice of bread or tiny sip won’t do the job. I haven’t seen anyone who gives an exact measurement for this.

Best wishes
